Indiana State University Sales and Negotiations Center Sales Career Exploration Event

Each semester on the evening prior to the ISU Career Center’s campus-wide Career Fair, the Sales and Negotiations Center sponsors a unique event in which sales professionals and sales students get together to explore career opportunities in the field of sales. Students seek careers in fields with which they are familiar and when they know successful people working in that profession. Consequently, our goal for this event is to introduce our students to successful sales representatives and sales managers who could become future role models, mentors and/or career coaches for our sales students. To encourage a relaxed atmosphere and encourage productive interactions, the dress code for the evening is “business casual” and a delicious dinner will be served. We welcome sales professionals with an interest in helping and/or hiring and outstanding sales students with an interest in professional development. This is a great opportunity to begin developing professional relationships. Ball State University Regional Sales Competition

Each year, the H.H. Gregg Center for Professional Selling hosts the Ball State University Regional Sales Competition. Students from Ball State University, Indiana University, Purdue University, the University of Louisville, and Western Carolina University compete in sales call role plays. These mock sales calls are judged by 40 to 50 salespeople and sales managers from industry. Although it is a competition, the primary purpose of this event is to help you and your fellow students better develop your sales skills. Unlike any other competition, students receive immediate feedback from sales professionals regarding their performance in the mock sales call.

The World Collegiate Sales Open (WCSO) is designed to provide an educational opportunity for sales students regardless of their location around the world. The competition is an educational experience designed to mimic real world activities that a sales representative would need to master, which may not be part of college curriculums.

International Collegiate Sales Competition (ICSC)

The ICSC combines challenges in the three most sought after selling skills, selling business-to-business, selling direct to consumer, and using the latest video conferencing technology to present solutions to international decision makers. The technology will allow immediate feedback to competitors at the end of each round. The event includes a job fair sponsored by over 25 Fortune 500 companies, along with mini educational seminars. Indiana University National Team Selling Competition (NTSC)

This competition is open to teams of four undergraduate students and is hosted by the Center for Global Sales Leadership at Indiana University. By competing in this event, selling teams from universities around the nation receive the chance to take their knowledge and experience and apply those skills to realistic selling situations that can be found in today’s market. There will be over $4,500 in cash prizes awarded to the winning sales students.
